how to play quicktime and windows medial movies

im new to Ubuntu and being tying to watch quicktime and windows media movies on my computer, i found a couple of answer but ether they are to confusing or not offer enough instructions to help my solve my problem because im not familiar with Ubuntu. so i would really appreciate in you guys could help me. i would really appreciated. thank you.

In Gutsy (the next release) the system will provide yourself if the way to get the drivers, its a cool feature.
