Problem with Virtual Box now

Asked by Lynne Stevens

Since I up dated to 11.04 I had to change Virtual Box to the natty version and now I get this
Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908)

The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver (vboxdrv) is either not loaded or there is a permission problem with /dev/vboxdrv. Please reinstall the kernel module by executing

'/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup'

as root. Users of Ubuntu, Fedora or Mandriva should install the DKMS package first. This package keeps track of Linux kernel changes and recompiles the vboxdrv kernel module if necessary.

* Stopping VirtualBox kernel modules [ OK ]
 * Uninstalling old VirtualBox DKMS kernel modules [ OK ]
 * Trying to register the VirtualBox kernel modules using DKMS
Error! Your kernel headers for kernel 2.6.38-11-generic-pae cannot be found at
/lib/modules/2.6.38-11-generic-pae/build or /lib/modules/2.6.38-11-generic-pae/source.

 * Failed, trying without DKMS
 * Recompiling VirtualBox kernel modules
 * Look at /var/log/vbox-install.log to find out what went wrong

So you moved something and Virtual Box will not fire up Windblows so I can run Pinnacle Studio ro make a movie
Sp what is the answer for this one . . I downloaded the correct version of Virtual Box from Oracle

The error message above:

* Trying to register the VirtualBox kernel modules using DKMS
Error! Your kernel headers for kernel 2.6.38-11-generic-pae cannot be found at
/lib/modules/2.6.38-11-generic-pae/build or /lib/modules/2.6.38-11-generic-pae/source.
 * Failed, trying without DKMS
 * Recompiling VirtualBox kernel modules
 * Look at /var/log/vbox-install.log to find out what went wrong

asks you to look at /var/log/vbox-install.log for error details.

I guess that you do not have the linux-headers-generic-pae installed.

Try installing linux-headers-generic-pae 2.6.38-11 and run the vboxdrv setup again.
If that does not help please provide the contents of /var/log/vbox-install.log

And Windblows works AGAIN . . . . Not that I have little use for MS crap but I have to run it for some programs as a good Movie maker is not yet in any partner or third party software lists waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !
