cannot access remote desktop thru Web

Asked by Ermonty

Hello

I set up my remote desktop (Ubuntu 8.04), opened/forwarded port 5800-5900 on firestarter / router.

From an outside Windows XP3 computer with the VNC Viewer, I can access my Ubuntu desktop fine.

However, although I have installed java plugin, I cannot access this remote deskop trhu the Web as I use to do when the VNC server is a windows computer.

For instance http://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:5800 from the outside windows machine vwill return
RFB 003.007

and http://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:5900 will return
cannot display ...

Is this not supposed to be supported by the VNC server inside Ubuntu, or do I have something wrong in my config?

Thks
Eric

i dont think the remote desktop server on ubuntu cares weather your using a vnc client, web browser, or even cell phone as long as the client is set up properly. check your browser plugin for advanced options like authentication, etc

Can you help with this problem?
