remote desktop viewer doesent work

Note:

you would still have to open the ports on both computers,If the firewall blocks those ports then you are not going to get an incoming connection.

HI,

I have visited the URls given above and read all about remote desktop viewing. I am new to Ubuntu 8.1 and have been trying to connect to remote desktops on the local server for for many times, but am unable to do it. I don't seem to understand what the problem is. May be I am not able to do it correctly but even after following the procedure step-by-step, I am not able to find any host-names in the list. Sometimes all that happens is a black screen becomes visible.

Please help.

Do you want to reach a win pc or a linux pc. Do you wanna reach it from ubuntu, am I right?
What steps had you followed as you mentioned above?

Hi,

I think you should try to use VNC viewer 'caz it universal. Install at
both PC and try.
