DVD drive not showing up in 11.04

Hello, I have a DVD drive that worked with 10.10 but will not show up with 11.04. I have taken connections loose and reattached with no success. The Drive has power and will open and shut but will not show up in ubuntu. Can anyone tell me a command line to diagnose the problem? Thank you.
