Startup Disc Creator problem Invalid version string 'GNU/Linux'

Asked by Slav Zlobin

The start up Disc Creator won't make a bootable USB stick the message pops up "problem Invalid version string 'GNU/Linux'"
How can this be fixed I w as trying to make both Debian start up poratble USB drive and Ubuntu 12.04 both brings the same message. I was thinking may be some problem with package configuration as Unsexpected System Problem message came up a few times but I was unable to create proper report the txt file created by system appears to be empty.

Did you MD5 test the ISO you downloaded?

no i thought it was unnecessary as I've downloaded both packages from official sites also I've used Ubuntu package before and it created no problem but only under 10.04 version

The source is irrelevant. The data can be mangled in transit and this is why you must MD5 test. You can get the image from ANY source, as long as the MD5 is the same as the correct ISO it is fine.
