10.04 Startup USB creator issues

Asked by ignatius

1. Can't remove current source disc image from list. There is no option to remove images from the list.
2. Can add Other source disc image, but when any disk image is selected, the Make Startup Disk button is immediately greyed out.
3. Closing the app doesn't save the last added source disk image.
4. Can't install source disc image on a blank USB stick - bootloader installation failed.

I suggest you use:

http://www.pendrivelinux.com/create-a-ubuntu-9-10-live-usb-in-windows/

If you have a windows system around.

If you are booting to a LiveCD to use the usb-creator then make sure you run:

sudo apt-get --reinstall install usb-creator*

To update the app before running it. You should also make sure the ISO you used passes MD5 test and checking the CD for defects will also help.

Errata:
#4 Can't create startup USB - always throws an Installation Failed error with no other information.

@actionparsnip
Thanks for the input, but it doesn't address the real issue. Because it worked fine in 9.10.
I can use Unetbootin to create a startup disk from the same disc images and on the same USB stick without any issues. So, the reason for this bug report is just that - to report what, to me, appears to be bugs in the latest release.

Log a bug for usb-creator then to say what it is doing, who knows others may be having the same issue.
