with ubuntu 11.04 how/where can see when un update has come through update manager on the pc ? (with last version a warning appeared on a bar( ? Many thanks

with the version before Ubuntu 11.04 when an update had delivered I was able to say it on my pc on the bar line... but with the version 11.04 I do not see it and have to let update_manager process to start.
So how can I do to have a remember on the bar of a new update ?

Security updates are immediately fetched, normal updates once a week.
In Unity, update-manger displays in launcher when updates are available and if e.g. Firefox is in fullscreen mode on another workspace, it wiggles out to notify about updates.
The 'wiggle' setting can be found in CCSM (compizconfig-settings-manager) -> Unity plugin.

To notify daily about updates it's possible to change the value in gconf-editor.
/apps/update-notifier/regular_auto_launch_interval =0

Hi Sam,
thanks for the rash answer ... but all these parameters are setting well already.
What I need is a warning that appears on my screen ... with the last version I was able to see it on the bar (appeared automatically) ... with the new version no ... so sometimes I do a check in the update manager to see wether or not there is some updates !
Ubunti 11.04 -> this warning should appear in the aboved bar !

Open a terminal and cut and paste the command below followed by Enter then log out and back in:

gconftool-2 -s --type bool /apps/update-notifier/auto_launch false

That will put the update notification back on your top panel if you are using the classic interface.
