sources.list file problem in ubuntu 9.04

I have edited sources.list file while i was installing ruby or maybe java 1.5

The following error is coming:

An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:

'E:Invalid record in the preferences file, no Package header'
-------
Help me at urgent by providing a clean sources.list file for jaunty or guide me to correct this.

Could you please post your sources.list here so that we can test what causes the problem? (And if it's really sources list related)

this is what is present in my sources.list. file..

I just dont understand whats wrong..
please guide me asap as things are really stuck.

Unless you are certain you still want ruby pinned to the release you have it pinned to it. You can simply delete your preference file (sudo rm /etc/apt/preferences). If you do want it pinned, try removing all the lines with numbers in front of them from the /etc/apt/preferences file.
