can't get updates for 10.04

Asked by jasperpad

I cannot get updates for ubuntu 10.04 and it used to install semi automatically, (the dialogue box came up and I just said yes).

I get the error message

Could not initialise the package information

An unresolvable problem occurred while initialising the package information.

Please report this bug for the 'update-manager' package and try to include the following error message:

'E:Type ‘sudo’ is not known on line 2 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/google.list, E:The list of sources could not be read.'

I have tried to use terminal but to no avail.

can anyone help? I am getting used to using terminal but consider myself a learner

thanks in advance

george

There is an error into google.list repository file, quick way is to remove the file, so please try this command:

sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/google.list

sudo apt-get update
