booting error on ubuntu 12.04 after aborted upgrade

Hello, i have a problem, i installed ubuntu on my dell and it was 11.10, i upgraded but i cancelled it in the middle of the upgrade, it asked me if i wanted to do a partial upgrade and i said yes, after that was done, i installed 12.04. Everytime when i start the computer and loggin, i get an error message which says i had an internal error. I get this many, many times and asks me like a million times to send it in to the suportors and i just get the error message. Any help? I am running A dell Latitude D630 and my old Inspiron 1300 runs fine with no errors.

It sounds like you've got broken dependancies. Some of the sytem may be at one release level, and other components may be at another.

When you say "...after that was done, I installed 12.04." how did you do this? If you did a clean install then it should have fixed all of these problems

You could try in a terminal or console:

sudo apt-get -f install

and if you still have problems, try:

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

If you still have problems it might be useful to know exactly where you are up to. Please give the output of:

lsb_release -a
and
uname -a

I agree with Chris and would add: a fauly system could possibly cause problems and data loss. If all else fails, do you have all your data and settings saved?

I looked in the update stuff again and it came with the files i was missing, i restarted my computer and it no longer did it...
