problems with 12.04 updates

Asked by josipogo

Hi.
I would like to present you problem with which I am right now facing on Ubuntu 12.04. The problem is related for update-manager software on Ubuntu. For last two days I am not able to perform update process of Ubuntu OS thru update-manager, does not matter do I performing thru GUI or terminal. Simply once when update-manager download updates (yesterday 117, today cca. 200 updates) on GUI it said waiting for process to start and if I click details it shows changelogs. If I do the update process from terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

When finish downloading it just shows changelog in terminal.

Please advice what could be steps for resolving problem.

That it.

Cheers

Strange, in the mean time while I am waiting your response I am run once again GUI update-manager and as previously after download updates it said applying changes and under details just changelogs but then I was try in terminal:
sudo apt-get updates
and receive following output:
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock directory /var/lib/apt/lists/
then I am try:
sudo apt-get upgrade
and Ubuntu start to unpacking updates and applying.
Last output which I was get after finishing unpacking and applying is:

...
Setting up libglib2.0-cil (2.12.10-2ubuntu4) ...
* Installing 1 assembly from libglib2.0-cil into Mono
Setting up libgtk2.0-cil (2.12.10-2ubuntu4) ...

sudo apt-get update
I am get following output:
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock directory /var/lib/apt/lists/

Then if I type:

Synaptic work fine but update-manager and apt-get update; apt-get upgrade still makes a problem. From my point of view this issue is solved by Synaptic.
