My updates cannot finish downloading in Ubuntu 11.04 - it indicates to check the connection which works

Asked by Vladimir Mavar

My update process in Ubuntu 11.04 was interrupted by the message that I need to check my connection. It went from 1.0 MG to 381 KB. I restarted when I realized that I couldn't proceed, but when I logged in again, my problem remains. I dual-boot with Windows Vista. Should I count on re-installing Ubuntu fairly soon?

This looks more like the PAM 8.2 problem than a hardware issue.
I also get a message to check my coonection, but if I expand the detail it lists the files that will not download.

In lieu of my previous question, I am not on a router. I am linked directly to the ISP's domain. I think the problem may be more closely related to some programming error in Ubuntu as opposed to a networking error because my Internet works on both operating systems. I appreciate your feedback. BTW, what is PAM 8.2?
