Did you run:

gksudo gedit /etc/update-manager/release-upgrade

and change:
Prompt=lts
to:
Prompt=normal

Then you can run:

sudo apt-get install update-manager-core; sudo do-release-upgrade

Should be ok

As actionparsnip said you have to say that you want to do upgrade to the normal release,not LTS.You can do same thing from ubuntu software center>edit>repositories>under updates tab look at the bottom and change from LTS to normal.After that

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

Now you are ready to do upgrade with updates manager.

No need to use software centre at all. If you follow my instructions it does it for you, and FASTER

You can find them in synaptic>repositories and look there for update tab ( i think that is right place;I'm not at Ubunut right now) and on the bottom you will see that you can replace LTS upgrades with normal.After that in synaptic click on refresh and amrk all updates.After that in update manager you should be able to see that 10.10 is available for upgrade.

Can you help with this problem?
