Wiping a drive (hard disc) by writing zeros

I have a problem noted here: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+question/241923 & I would like to know where I can get an ap to write zeros to my hard disc.

You already have one, you can use dd in a terminal. Dban also exists.
