How to add clock to menu

Asked by bill purvis

I'm sure that I had a clock in the panel (top right of screen) since I upgraded to
Oneiric, but it has disappeared at some point. How can I restore it. There doesn't
seem to be anything in System Settings that covers this.

Try to do this:
1. Open a terminal by hitting CTRL + ALT + T
2. Insert and run this command:
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/panel
rm -rf ~/.gconf/apps/panel
pkill gnome-panel

What version of Ubuntu are you using?
Are you using the new interface Unity?

That was fun - all my settings gone! Ended up with a the screen totally screwed up, but that was probably
my fault. Had to run ccsm to get settings back and everything then went dead - looked as if the window
manager died. I ended up having to login via ssh from another machine and killed /usr/bin/gnome-session
then restarted gdm. Everything back as it was after logging in again.

But still no sign of a clock.....

I give up - It seems it was already set to Unity 2D so I tried the other Unity but just the same.
I've decided to go back to Classic - I'm getting more and more disillusioned with Ubuntu, every
time I upgrade there's major trauma.

Can you help with this problem?
