11.10, configure old window switch (not application switch) behaviour

Asked by SoloTurn

how is it possible to configure the standard window switching policy? application switching like it is now is not user friendly as it is difficult to switch between more than three browser windows, i.e. you need both hands to press alt-tab, and down arrow, right arrow two times.

The behavior of the new alt-tab switcher is currently being discussed in bug #863399. You can help by commenting and/or voting in the bug (click "affects me too").

To restore the old alt-tab switcher, install CompizConfig Settings Manager and run it. Click on "Ubuntu Unity plugin" under "Desktop" and go to the "switcher" tab. Click on "key to start the launcher" and disable it. Now go back to CCSM main window and check "Static Application Switcher" under "Window Management".

If your system crash after checking the static application switcher don't worry, just press ctrl+alt+F1 and type "reboot" after logging in.
