Free diskspace

Asked by GUI_Junkie

I have tried to upgrade Ubuntu 15.04 to 15.10 on a Virtual Machine. After a number of minutes, the upgrader reported that free space on the harddrive was lacking.

It should be trivial to check that, just after the user authorization request.

Hi!

I forgot to mention that I added space to the Virtual Machine, so I'm
upgrading at this moment.

The output shows 15.10 already.

Ok, lets clean this up:

sudo dpkg -P linux-image-extra-3.16.0-23-generic
sudo dpkg -P linux-image-extra-3.16.0-29-generic
sudo dpkg -P linux-image-extra-3.16.0-30-generic

sudo dpkg -P linux-image-extra-3.19.0-15-generic
sudo dpkg -P linux-image-extra-3.19.0-18-generic
sudo dpkg -P linux-image-extra-3.19.0-20-generic
sudo dpkg -P linux-image-extra-3.19.0-21-generic
sudo dpkg -P linux-image-extra-3.19.0-22-generic
sudo dpkg -P linux-image-extra-3.19.0-23-generic

sudo dpkg -P linux-image-3.16.0-23-generic
sudo dpkg -P linux-image-3.16.0-29-generic
sudo dpkg -P linux-image-3.16.0-30-generic
sudo dpkg -P linux-image-3.16.0-31-generic

sudo apt-get --purge remove linux-image-extra-3.16.0-34-generic
sudo apt-get --purge remove linux-image-extra-3.16.0-16-generic
sudo apt-get --purge remove linux-image-3.16.0-34-generic

sudo apt-get --purge remove linux-image-3.19.0-23-generic
sudo apt-get --purge remove linux-image-3.19.0-28-generic

sudo apt-get --purge autoremove

You should now have a tonne more space.
