How do I move a torrent file and the source files so that Transmission doesn't lose track of them?

Asked by Bill Callahan

I accidentally ran Transmission with my home directory being used for the downloaded files. I want to move them to another directory, and I want Transmission to be able to find them so that I can continue to seed. I looked at each of the menus on Transmission, checked the online help, the FAQ's and this forum, but so far I haven't found a solution.

With Transmission open, if you right click on the file that is downloading, then click on "Set Location." A browser window will open up prompting you to select the new location of the data being downloaded. Once you have chosen a new location, another window will open prompting you to wait till the file transfer has finished. afterwards you may have to click the start button for that particular download and Transmission will begin verifying the data. Once the data has been verified the download will continue placing the data in the new location.

Your answer worked great! I have to remember to check out the context (right click) menus.
