DVD does not play properly. Picture pixalates and jerky, sound jerky too

I am using Ubuntu 8.04 and when I play a DVD it just will not play properly. The video is broken and jerky... and the sound fractured and jerky too.

I would suggest you type the following commands into a terminal.
It should install some codecs you need:

  sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extra

I tried that and also tried searching and re-installing the ubuntu-restricted-extra, but it would not work...

This is what I got in the cmd line:
root@pink-vaio:/home/jonathan# sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extra
sudo: unable to resolve host pink-vaio
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package ubuntu-restricted-extra
