totem package

totem.ui is missing

Totem does not start. The folder usr/share/totem is empty. I am using ubuntu 22.04.
I purged totem and reinstalled it without success. How can I fix this.

What happens, when you open a terminal window (e.g. by simultaneously pressing ctrl-alt-t) and issue the command

/usr/bin/totem

A window pops up. It says :
Die "usr/share/totem/totem.ui"-Oberfläche konnte nicht geladen werden.Datei usr/share/totem/totem.ui konnte nicht geöffnet werden. Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden.

It is my fault. I deleted the files in usr/share/totem/ and I was surprised that a fresh installation did not replace them.

There are more packages involved in the software named totem.

The file /usr/share/totem/totem.ui is contained in the package "totem-common".

Try

sudo apt install --reinstall totem-common

If that still is not sufficient, then execute the command

dpkg -l | grep totem

and do the reinstall command with all of the packages listed.
