totem no go

after 5 attemps to load ubuntu studio 8.10 the opperating system after getting a 14 hour up date , would freeze or not start after pass word. upon testing totem on stuidio 7 i hoped things would be fixed with 8.10 .both totems dont work. can totem be up graded to v l c media player as its bullet proof.love the 8.10 after the nightmare loading problems though, my dream of a master rival to vista has nearlly arived , great job ! . ps my n vidia up date driver sent by ubuntu froze the system so i finally didnot in stall it.nvidia mx 440 64 mb .thanks again boys. andrew
