Stopping Totem automatic startup when loading a CD

Asked by Gerry Moore

Totem Move Player starts automatically upon inserting a DVD disk in the DVD drive. Is it possible to not have Totem start automatically? I would like no action to be taken upon inserting a DVD. I cannot delete Totem from System / Administration / Preferred Applications list.

Try this:
Go to System>Preferences>Removable Drives and Media
Click on the multimedia tab.
Uncheck the "Play video DVD discs when inserted".
Close out of that and give it a try.

Ack! Shame on me for giving bad advice.

It looks like that tab is missing from the latest releases for some reason.

If you open up Nautilus and go to Edit->Preferences, then select the Media tab.... you will find the options you need.
