ripping and burning

Hi,

You haven't really said what you want to do.

For ripping audio CDs there is Sound Juicer. For burning there is Serpentine. Both of these are in Applications -> Sound & Video. For ripping any old data CD/DVD you can use the method described in (http://www.ubuntu-unleashed.com/2007/12/have-cd-or-dvd-lying-around-that-you.html). For burning ISOs you should just be able to double click on them and start burning from there. For copying files to a CD/DVD you can just drag them over to the window in Nautilus.
