totem movie player won't display picture properly, even after codec is installed.

Asked by James

I am experiencing a screen blackout on DVD playback with Totem Movie Player and VLC player. I installed the LIBDVEDCSS2 codec. There is some kind of glitch in the window resizing and playback with this codec, I guess. As I am having the same problem with both DVD apps. The pictures goes on and off as I resize the window, and opening a menu causes a black spot to appear where the menu was open on the screen. I have a Tecra M1 with a Trident 32MB Cyber XP4 vid card. Any suggestions? Thx

Hello,

What version of Ubuntu are you using.?

From the Synaptic install non-free codecs.

Regards.

Allan :)

I'm using Ubuntu 11.04. I installed the non-free codecs also. Still same problem. I can get a picture if i click and drag the title bar, but the picture will go on and off. It's a little better with VLC. After reading other posts of the same problem, it appears there is a bug in these codecs for DVD playback. At least I can watch the DVD'S as long as i tweak the window a bit. Thx
