You can check www.linuxprinting.org to see if your printer is supported by open source drivers.
It appears your printer isn't listed (yet).

You could try if printer drivers of similar printer models work for your printer. If you find a driver that works well please fill out the new printer form on www.linuxprinting.org: http://www.linuxprinting.org/edit_printer.cgi?newentry=1

You could check the canon website for linux printer drivers (can be closed source).
