When will 102.6 be available for focal?

Asked by Sven Carlberg

When will 102.6 be available for ubuntu focal? I'm having an issue in 102.4.2 that may be resolved in 102.6.
Thanks

Thunderbird is available as a snap package.

I know of snaps, but I have not installed one yet. What will happen if I already have thunderbird installed as deb (as I currently do) and then install the snap? Won't they both try to access the same ~/.thunderbird directory and possibly perform some kind of data update on the contents making the profiles no longer usable on the older version? Will there be any other kinds of conflicts? Should I apt remove the current thunderbird before trying the snap version?

It would also be useful to know the answer to the original question - ideally a link to some kind of roadmap to indicate if/when certain versions of applications (thunderbird) will make it to which versions of ubuntu. If 102.6 will be coming to focal repos in the next couple of days, I think I'd probably prefer to wait. However, it's possible that 102.6 is being skipped for focal and other older ubuntu versions for some reason and the wait will be much longer.

Thanks

Work on packaging version 102.6.1 has already started, see https://launchpad.net/~mozillateam/+archive/ubuntu/ppa
I assume that after a certain amount of testing this version will be rolled out in the official Ubuntu repositories. I do not know any dates; in any case you have to take into account that there currently is holiday period.
Personally I expect publication within the coming days, I guess within two weeks maximum.
If you urgently need the updated version, then you can install the package from the PPA.

After installing the snap -> restart -> then use sudo apt autoremove to clean any unneeded packages.
Ubuntu is comprised of snap packages during the initial build.

I'd also give credit to Bernard for the snap option, but I gave the official answer to Manfred because that one more specifically addressed the original question.
Thank you both
