When will canonical update T-bird from 3.0 to 3.1?

Asked by Paul English

I'm running Ubuntu on my 64-bit laptop. Used Ubuntu Software Center to install Thunderbird 3.0.6, but when trying to install Lightning 1.0b as an add-on, I get a message that 1.0b is not compatible with this version of T-Bird. I tried the 64-bit version. Same thing. I read that it IS compatible with T-Bird 3.1, and want to know when a new critical update to 3.1 or beyond is scheduled. Is this the right forum to ask? I'm baffled! Thanks!

Please read the Ubuntu 10.04 release note...

You can get 3.1 from the mozilla ppa:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa; sudo apt-get update; sudo aptget install thunderbird-3.1

You can also get beta builds of firefox as well as later builds of the current version.

thunderbird 3.1 has migrated to the thunderbird package in the daily PPA, FYI
