Problem with driver install lexmark x2600

I have got a prolem with install with my ubuntu 8.10 the printing lexmark x2600 i use procedure http://wiki.ubuntu-it.org/Hardware/StampantiScanner/Lexmark and the procedure isn't finished very well...(root@plushfin-desktop:/home/lexmark/usr# direct z600:/dev/usblp0 "Lexmark Lexmark X1100 Series" "Lexmark Printer"
bash: direct: command not found
root@plushfin-desktop:/home/lexmark/usr# sudo /etc/init.d/cupsys restart
sudo: /etc/init.d/cupsys: command not found)

and i utilized driver to www.lexmark.it the driver z600 of the redhat and i used this guide (http://forum.ubuntu-it.org/index.php?topic=230912.msg1591660)
there is another problem in system-amministration-priting i don't to add a print(they don't function not even contr+ N)

I am having the same problem with Ubuntu 8.04...

Can't find a driver for the X2600 or the z600.

Lexmark no longer allows access to http://www.dl.lexmark.com/pearl/*
To get downloads you have to go through the GUI and while there is a Linux pulldown menu, it doesn't work. There is a 3rd party source for the lexmark-inkjet-08-driver-1.1.i386.tar.gz.zip, but I don't have the URL. I guess Lexmark has sold its soul to Bill Gates.

According to www.openprinting.org (http://www.openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Lexmark-X2600_Series) it should work with the lexmark-inkjet-08-driver

I was albe to donwload, unzip and install the file lexmark-inkjet-08-driver through the above link. The printer works (so far).
