app install issue

I am trying to install application like aegis virus scanner. All looks fine during the install. No errors.
After the install no new application is shown in any menu. I do not have this issue with all programs. About half. New install of OS

There is something with *.desktop file. I can see this application in Alacarte menu editor but it doesn;t appear in menu.

Temporary you can add custom application launcher to your panel or desktop, or you can start this app from terminal.

I'll report bug later and I hope that maintainer will fix it soon.

Can I use any Anti Virus on Ubuntu System?

Edward, you have replied to an existing support ticket. It's easier for us (and you) if you create a new ticket when you have a problem.

To answer your question thought, I have never found the need to run antivirus software on Linux, there just aren't any in the wild that make it worthwhile.The following page has some answers to common questions about viruses on linux:-
