GPG error when adding a repo ... is this a launchpad problem?

Asked by sefs

Hi i am trying to add a repo for moonlight/silverlight at http://ppa.launchpad.net/directhex/ubuntu intrepid main

but in synaptic it gives me the error:

***
W: GPG error: http://ppa.launchpad.net intrepid Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY ED8B789323DC003A
***

The owner of the repo indicates that it is a launchpad issue. How do I solve this.

Thanks.

Hi sefs,

The warning you are receiving is not the actual cause of the problem. For some reason, the moonlight-plugin-mozilla package only shows up in synaptic if you select to view the packages by "Origin" with the buttons in the bottom left corner. Then, you have to select ppa.launchpad.net/main in the top left corner. Oddly, the package won't show up in the search results, so you actually have to navigate the package list manually.

If you would like to get rid of the annoying warning messages about the GPG error, see this page:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=1653773#post1653773

I have opened bug 319827 to report this issue.
