I'm new and I really need to know how to install java, can anyone help me?

I'm very new to linux and Ubuntu, and I haven't gotten the hang of things yet. Can anyone give me a walkthrough on how to download java? ( Please be very descriptive, It won't hurt but it will probably help a lot). Thanks!

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-installer

Ubuntu is easy dude, just use the OS and you will learn
