The current Sudoku game has "very hard" problems that are too easy. I have played dozens of these and every one can be solved with only one fork. Also, all games are bilaterally symmetrical regarding which squares have numbers. Is this intentional?

Asked by Carolyn Meinel

The current Sudoku game has "very hard" problems that are too easy. I have played dozens of these games and all have been solvable with only one fork, I choose the fork primarily on a simple algorithm. But the previous version of a Sudoku game with the Ubuntu distributions was moire variable. Regarding the old Sudoku game, I reported the occasional "very hard"games that were solvable with no forks, but enjoyed the other games that sometimes required more than one fork.

This might be a clue to the easy games problem: the current Sudoku game always generates bilaterally symmetrical arrangements of squares containing numbers.

Please save me from boring Ubuntu Sudoku syndrome! I actually would prefer the old game since I would never know whether it would generate a "very hard" problem that was going to be easy, very hard, or super duper hard!

You could report a bug. There are online sudoku games to keep you entertained whilst this is investigated.

You sound like you are good at them, maybe you can suggest ways to generate the harder grids

It really isn't a bug, apparently it is a feature, I'm assuming, given this symmetry aspect of this game program.

Never fear, I am aware of other online games but prefer not to be bugged by ads while playing.

Can you help with this problem?
