I suggest you report a bug. If the bug and security fixes are significant then it will be upgraded. If they are slight and other packages are deserving of time then they will be attended first. Ubuntu is not a rolling release and packages are reviewed all the time. Just because a new version is out doesn't mean it will be upgraded immediately, this is especially true in LTS releases.
