RIFF support

Asked by plm99

Is there a plan to support RIFF metadata in wav files?

I have archived my CD library as wav files with the idea that I could then convert to whichever compressed format I need later on, and park my CDs in a box somewhere. After spending many many hours ripping CDs, I feel like I have quite a lot invested in this library, especially since I was using a very painful Windows Media 11 to do it (unfortunately)!

The wav files have the metadata from CDDB embedded as RIFF blocks. It would be awesome if soundkonverter could extract the RIFF information and create ID3 tags for the compressed formats.

As it is now, when I use soundkonverter convert the wav files to anything else, all of the metadata is lost.

Thanks,

Good luck and happy hunting

There are plenty of tools to extract metadata, in fact "extract" will do just about any file type you can think of. The trick is to re-pack it back into a different format and be able to construct a batch to process thousands of songs at a time.

soundkonverter has 90% of it figured out already, it's a matter of figuring out how to add the RIFF extraction (not too hard) but then putting it back into an ID3 (maybe a little harder).

Cheers

Hmmm, possibly the kind of scenario where id keep my wav files as they are and just 'sit and wait' until the apps catch up. Possibly i might post an idea into some 'brainstorming' workshop or something.

Sounds like things are on there way to catching up with what you need
