No sound new install all ubuntu no window at all

New to ubuntu installed on a brand new drive every thing work but no sound.

How can I tell if it is a hardware problem. Driver disk will not boot and is windows based. Machine does not have a floppy drive

Help!

Is the sound card on the motherboard or separate? What kind of motherboard and sound card is it?

Just a few questions, what make/model of computer are you using? What version of Ubuntu have you installed? What is the output of the command lspci

se escucha muy suave trato entrado alsamixer por medio de konsole y no sucede nada gracias por adelantado
