Why is there no option to automatically install optional updates?

I get the point of having opt-in updates, that don't show unless you go looking for them, but that's very different to optional updates, which show an annoying pop-up to install them, and which most users will just click "install" on without second thought

It's in software-properties-gtk, also known as "Software & Updates", which is Ubuntu's default interface for managing update settings

In 'Software & Updates' the automatic settings only include Security updates installed automatically.
You can make a bug report for a feature request.
On the title of the bug report start it with: [Wishlist] ... subject...

You can start by opening a terminal[ctl+alt+t] type: ubuntu-bug [enter]
Be sure to give details, like; install all updates automatically ... more efficient desktop productivity... etc.
