How do we download photos or videos from an iphone onto our laptop using pre-installed ubunto software?

We need to download photos and videos from both our iphone and our samsung hmx w300 video camera onto our laptap and need whatever directions applications downloaded that will enable this to be automatic. Thanks.

Personally I use SFTP. If you install openssh-server you can then connect to the system over the LAN with an SFTP client on either phone.
