Application in the Ubuntu Software Center is stuck trying to cancel

There is an application that is trying to cancel but it has not actually started to cancel the process yet. Now when I try and apply any updates I can not apply them because it says that there is another application running. How do I stop the cancelation?

Reboot and then run:

 sudo fuser -vki /var/lib/dpkg/lock;sudo dpkg --configure -a

Should do it. When asked to kill the process say YES.
