can not get in to ubuntu

after down load
 of 11 10 i can not get in to the home page it is asking for user name and password i have a password but do not know the user name how do i get around this

Ubuntu 11.10 is end-of-life and not supported anymore.

Please install Ubuntu 12.04 LTS which is supported until April 2017.

I suggest a clean install of Precise. It is LTS and fully supported til April 2017.
