Unable to download from Ubuntu Software Center

I tried to re-install LibreOffice Writer from Ubuntu Software Center.
Software Center was active but could not download.
Upgraded Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10.
Writer was still not installed and I still could not download from the Software Center.
Tried [sudo rm / var / lib / apt / lists / *-vf], but the terminal did not accept.
So what do I do now?
