I can't download any programs or updates on my newly bought ubuntu-based laptop

I have recently bought a laptop with ubuntu installed on it, and it refuses any program I try to download from store giving me a message ( failed to download repository information )
I don't know what is wrong, I have tried logging on different networks thinking it will help, but it didn't
I could download some program updates, then it said that my Ubuntu release isn't supported anymore and need to be upgraded
I tried to upgrade it, but it gave me a message ( failed to fetch )
I downloaded Ubuntu version 12.04 700 MB, but I can't install it ( I am new to Ubuntu and Linux system as a whole, always used windows systems )

Can you please open the Terminal program (if in doubt, press Ctrl+Alt+T)m, enter the following command (exactly), press enter enter your password (nothing will be shown while entering) and copy the full output for us? Thanks!

Maverick is no longer supported. It is EOL. Its like installing Windows 98 then trying to get updates. There are none.

I suggest you wipe Maverick off and do a clean install of Precise which is LTS and supported til April 2017.

Ubuntu 10.10 (maverick) is end-of-life.

I recommend performing a clean install of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, which is
supported until April 2017.
