Hello,
What you mean by "Ubuntu Software Distribution" ? What is this ? Maybe Ubuntu Software Center instead ?

I think you should give us more detailed information:
what kind of file do you open?
by which programm are you open it?
if any error or messages - paste them here or make a screenshot.
Thanks.
If we have more infmation we will help you faster.
Denis.

Ok, well I was running Windows Black, and could not connect to the internet
so a friend suggested I download Ubuntu,so I did and I am now convinced
this is by far a better OS,however since I recently attempted to upgrade to
13.04 now my software center in the menu throws up an error message
saying that ubuntu software center can't open and then asks me if I want to
force quit, relaunch,or cancel.
And it freezes the app. and becomes unresponsive.

Hi
Please try this:
- Open Terminal (open the Dash and search for "terminal")
- Type "software-center" without the quotation marks, and press enter
- Copy the output and paste it here
Thanks

Run :
wget https:/
chmod +x ./fixpackage
sudo ./fixpackage
Did you by any chance upgrade directly from Precise to Raring in on jump or did you upgrade to Quantal in between?
Can you help with this problem?
Provide an answer of your own, or ask Cheryl Hardy for more information if necessary.
