I am trying to get started with bitcoin

I am a complete NOOB to linux and ubuntu, I am VERY apprehensive at trying to use command line,
I need a chat partner who can walk me thru some of the basics. I am no dummy, I am just lost in an information ocean too many answers without knowing the question. Any one willing to help?

for chat support, i would recommend using IRC.

You can use Pidgin to chat on IRC, but i would recommend Xchat. In the ubuntu software center search for and install xchat.

open xchat, connect to freenode, and once connected you will want to join #ubuntu and check #bitcoin
