Software center wont install some programs

Asked by Logan Fulbright

Software center wont install some programs and keeps giving me errors, and offers to repair
but i get a error after i try to do that.. help?
I went "sudo crazy" and think i messed up some stuff by trying to install Non-ubuntu programs that where not trusted.

Heres the msg..
"Items cannot be installed or removed
until the package catalog is repaired. do you want to repair it now?"

and when i click cancel it pops back up.
and when i click repair "Package operation failed"
The installation or removal of a software package failed.

What do i do?

Rather try "sudo patient". ;-)

Close all GUIs, Software-Center, Synaptic, Update-Manager, and work in a terminal: ctrl+alt+t
Start repair attempt with:
sudo dpkg --configure -a

Then lets see which error message occur and post complete here.

Some repair cmds available there.

I am going crazy,
Ahhhh.. I tried to use the app "janitor" and it removed 120 of my apps and updates. my clock will not show up, I cant log out without hitting the power button.
and i cant back up any of my files bc it wont let me use my external HDD. It will not let me change the "Permission" to Read and write. only read.
I tried the terminal Comand ( sudo dpkg configure a ) but nothing happend it just asked for my password and went back to the computer name...

Can you help with this problem?
