Skype update 4.0.0.7

Will skype from partner reposition be updated from 2.2.0.35 to 4.0.0.7 ?
Manually I had to unistall old version and just then I can install new :\

There seems to be a solution:

However, from Skype's site it covers only Ubuntu 10.04 while 12.04 is not even mentioned but probably it is the right one. Firefox will open it with Ubuntu Software Center. For some reason it is not there by default.

Pekorius.Nedas, did you uninstall the previous version before trying to install the current one? Did you also pick up the right version for your machine? Launching an application from command line provides valuable information for solving the problem if there is any.

Skype has been updated to -8 release some time ago.
