skype webcam mike doesnt work on 10.04 or 10.10

i had skype working on 10.04 upgraded to 10.10 and webcam mike not working on hp dv7 and aspire one . both work with plug in mike . went back to 10.04 on aspire - same problem . would happily ditch skype but not so easy to persuade my friends ! have been asked by a coupla friends to get rid of windows and install ubuntu on thier machines but both use skype extensively -am embarressed to say if i do this skype wont work . any help apprieciated .

yes i can see myself . can also see and hear myself on skype microphone is
the problem . it works with sound recorder but not skype .

i amsorry but i did not understand the wiki instructions - entered comands ,
but have no idea how to reproduce bug etc

Hello,

You need to set the sound and webcam in Skype. If it works in Ubuntu then set it up in Skype as well..

thanx but now i have no sound pulse audio will not launch . connection failed connection refused . daemon failed to launch . also i have set all i can in skype
