The restore application does not work in another computer target?

I have a desktop in which I run Windows 2000 and Gutsy Gibbon.
After install Feisty Fawn in it, I had copied the user files of Word and Excel to the new system, and I have run without dificulties the Open Office with them.
After installing the Gutsy I have continued using them without any trouble.
After buying a laptop wich runs only Gutsy Gibbon I have copied and used the user files in the new computer satisfactorily.
I have installed in the two computers the simple-backup-config and the simple-restore-gnome.
I have been using these applications only in the laptop normally.
Because of the different names of the user in the two computers, I have created a new user in the desktop, exactly like the user of the laptop.
With the scope of having two user exacts including de same user files, I have tried to restore all the files of the backup from the backup of thelaptop to the desktop directory.
The desktop had isued the message “Error: no backups found in the target directory”.
I don't know how I can achieve my purpose.
Maybe there is another application backup which allows to restore the backup in another computer?
