Import 3gp videos in shotwell... how?!?

Asked by Alessandro Lattao

Shotwell does not show 3gp videos stored in dcim folder of my android phone. Is it a bug?
Is there any way to import them?

P.S. I'm using ubuntu 11.10.

Thank you so much

Shotwell 0.7 does not support 3GP videos -- you will need to convert them, use a PPA, or upgrade to a newer version of ubuntu (natty or higher).

Package list:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/en/source/natty/shotwell

Shotwell announcement:
http://www.ubuntugeek.com/shortwell-0-8-1-releaged-with-3gp-video-support.html

PPA:
http://blog.flexion.org/2011/08/30/shotwell-ppa-for-ubuntu-lucid-maverick/

If you do decide to upgrade, then please back up your data first! Remember also that PPAs are third party.

As I wrote, I'm using ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric) which includes shotwell version 0.11.4 :)

Package list:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/en/source/oneiric/shotwell

As you wrote, shotwell should support 3gp videos since 0.8.1 but it doesn't.

Ah sorry, misread that as 10.10 somehow.

ok, there may have been a fix in libgphoto2

https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3304827&group_id=8874&atid=108874

The libgphoto2 that made it into oneric is 2.4.11, which is earlier than this reported fix. You could convert this to a bugreport to get the patch backported, maybe.

Can you help with this problem?
