You can download the Oneiric alternate ISO, mount it and run the upgrade there. There is a script to run with sudo in the root of the files.

Personally I would clean install with Precise and restore user data from backup. You'll get to the latest LTS faster as well as have a more stable OS.

relessed end of life 11.04 mssg. says no security fixes remain tells me to upgrade. cant enter password to upgrade is this cause for alarm? John Burk
